Hello, my name is Natalie Leizan and I am a Graphic Design student at FIU. I am working with the non-profit organization called My Angel with Paws to create a series of 10 posters to bring awareness. They are an 100% volunteer based organization located in Deland, FL who are committed to expanding public understanding and knowledge of the needs of children and adults with disabilities through the rescuing, breeding, training, placement and continuing education of service dogs in the state of Florida. One of their main goals while training these dogs is to help people with disabilities live fuller, more independent lives.
I knew that I wanted to work with an organization that either dealt with dogs or people with disabilities and this was the perfect blend of both. I myself have three dogs and they bring an incredible amount of joy to my life, so I can imagine what an impact they have on someone with a disability.
The concept I went with of these really large dogs is to emphasize the importance that the dogs have on children and adults with disabilities. I wanted them to be bright and positive and for there to be something that stands out to catch someone’s attention and encourage them to come closer and read the text that provides some educational feedback on the type of service these dogs provide.
